I checked 'acheri' Thanks. That led me to 'anxious' and 'abiding joy'. I'm slowly waking up to the fact that there are thousands of varieties. Also how little I know. Most of the images show very ruffled petals. This tall bearded iris has no ruffles. Is that cos its 'young' or because it is a particular variety with a different form? Don't laugh too hard. I really am a newbie when it comes to irises. (And gardens) but it's Fun learning. This is a new world to me. @brightcolours. @carolgs
The ruffled petals is probably a different variety, there are thousands of different varieties you are right and I suspect that the difference in them is only slight
Which only iris experts could tell the difference I've worked with plants since I left school some 24 years ago and I am still learning which I agree is fun and some what daunting at the same time
Oh thanks @carolgs. That helps. Eventually I will find out more about the varieties. This sets me off in the right direction. Curiosity and wonder leads to knowledge. Fun, Fun...
When in doubt: it's more likely to be a commonly grown variety!! And search Australian lists first. If you're keen to know varieties then I'd take a flower and leaf to the local flower and agricultural shows.
This is the first time this iris has flowered. Very pale! Any clues as to what sort it is? I can't remember where I got it from!
Looks like a bearded Iris? #whiteiris #iris #white
