Help needed - can someone identify this plant please
I think it might be honey garlic but only because I’ve seen it here before. Someone will be more positive than me! #plantid
Definitely #nectaroscordum #sicilianhoneygarlic I agree with lovely @valjones-hughes
I agree with both of the ladies 😃
Indeed, Scicilian honey garlic agree with everyone above - although Nectaroscordum is now technically now merged into the Allium genus officially 👍🏼 and it’s now called Allium siculum. Latin names are changing regularly now due to DNA analysis results.
Thanks a lot everybody. Really appreciate your help @richard.spicer.7906 @lexijane @mrsflowerpot @valjones-hughes
Finally 🎉👍 @richard.spicer.7906
I know right? 🤣 I’ve always been confused with this one but I think clarity has been made by the botanists now. Read about it in a newspaper article a few weeks back, the Kew species database has been updated too, but prob a while before rhs follows suit. Did you know Rosemary has officially also now merged into Salvia? (It’s gonna be known as Salvia rosmarinus, although again that will prob take time to adjust to!) @mrsflowerpot
It all makes perfect sense, sometimes the renaming baffles me to why but both of those sound pretty logical. 👍👍👍 @richard.spicer.7906
They do sound right, thought that about the honey garlic first time I saw it. Rosemary does make sense too but think it will take a while longer to filter through!
