What do they taste like? I've always been curious, but never had a chance to try them. When I was a kid we just picked the black ones in the wild.

@carad The red ones are poisonous unless you cook them very well. I just leave them for the birds. It is the first berries that ripen for them and they really attract many birds.

Oh! Good to know! I've heard from a few people that they're edible. Hahaha! Guess I'll just stick to the black ones.
Are you serious?? That’s a beautiful bush!! @laketitlow love the red
@alisons50 it is one of my favorites. If you put them in the sun it is an outstanding shrub. The birds LOVE the berries.
Birds come second! WINE first then we talk!! Lol 😂 @laketitlow
@alisons50 you can make wine out of those berries? I never thought of that. I think though you have to thoroughly cook the berries before eating them.
I have a steam juicer for on the stove. Just fill the hopper and put water in the bottom and poof hot juice, and it makes the best wine!!! It’s a sweet wine for us. @laketitlow. You don’t eat the berries if making wine, but they are sour so it takes a lot of sugar and the more sugar the more alcohol, up to 28%. GOOD STUFF!
Ps makes the best jelly!!!! @laketitlow .
Don't think I seen this, I like! 👍
