29 june 2018 ā¢ i told yāall this one stole my heart last time i saw one. today i made this one my own! a little greener and probably light deprived up top, should be deepening with sunlight shortly. āŗļø #succulent #newplant #kalanchoe-tubiflora #motherofthousands
@NatalieMay93 as far as i know, mother of thousands and mother of millions are synonymous, both referring to kalanchoes that produce babies at the leaf edges that drop and proliferate easily. they are a weed down there in australia, but here in pennsylvania it definitely wonāt spread too far 😜
@lissoms They are different types 😊 Millions is Bryophyllum Delagoense.
Thousands is Bryophyllum Daigremontianum.
The hybrid is Bryophyllum x Houghtonii
@NatalieMay93 you may be right, but the listing that i have this plant under is: āMother of thousandsā Kalanchoe Tubiflora (Bryophyllum delagoense). so i think i have it right. maybe @KelsiBriana or @Yollymac can clear up the confusion here? i donāt believe i have this listed incorrectly.
http://www.crassulaceae.ch/de/artikel?akID=68&aaID=2&aiID=D&aID=594 Hi Carrie, you do have the listing correct. The problem with common names is that they vary by locations all around the world. I wouldnāt worry about it too much especially since the Latin name is right, as Kelsi said. However, I agree this is mother of thousands by common name and mother of millions is the other one which I think is also called Mexican Hat. Kelsi has loads of them!
@KelsiBriana @Yollymac @NatalieMay93 thank you all for helping me get this sorted out! seems like it is a good idea to rely primarily on latin names, however difficult they may be to remember sometimes 😉. learned a lot here!
