Just found it also on Echeverias in Oz directory. Looks like it was originally named blue metal and its also being sold as sundown ? echeveriasinoz.net/blue_metal.html edit sorry cant get that link to copy properly 🤔
@Muzz67 I was reading on one of my Facebook succulent groups that someone who is personal friends of the breeder wanted to help correct this. That he originally named it “Blue Metal” but on exporting to USA there was already one under that name so renamed it “Sundown”. I hadn’t heard of it before either but I’ve come across a few people backing that name. I bought this as E. Blue Metal :)
It looks like my blue metal which is what I got it as too.I think people rename when that kind of thing happens but Im going to stick with the original name I think unless it gets changed on the ICN ? 😁
@Muzz67 Sorry, I only just saw your previous comment saying you found it also listed as Sundown. I literally only heard that name for the first time the other day and had been after Blue Metal for a while!
Hi All, it's true that a person claiming to be the friend of the breeder made a long post on FB bout selling the plant as Sundown instead of Blue Metal. Several points about the post was incredibly sketchy including that the breeder never came forward and said a thing. In fact he has no info to even contact him by. Sundown is a synonym that has floated around after the name Blue Metal was largely in use and there is no evidence that it was called that to begin with. There is a process cont.
IF a breeder decides they want to update a name. He hasn't followed it. He hasn't even tried to follow it is my understanding. One has to ask why, if it meant this much to him. The entire post was thoroughly debunked by some of the most experienced collectors in the country. Also, there is a reason the ICN is THE MOST reliable source of information when it comes to succulents... They follow due diligence before any plant is added. I agree with Jacqui and wouldn't change the name unless cont.
The ICN does. I know @Gardentagssucculentexpert will have a similar response as this issue comes up from time to time and have been discussed previously. Lastly, do not believe everything you read on FB. Or on plant labels.... 😁
I’ve also recently read that it is aka “E. Sundown”.
Haven't heard of E.Sundown but here is blue metal on the ICN ? http://www.crassulaceae.ch/de/artikel?akID=48&aaID=3&aiID=B&aID=381
