I'm new to gardening but have a very basic knowledge. I moved house a year ago and went from a tiny garden to a big garden. Can't wait to learn

Not bad after how much beating it's taken. There is new growth that should fill the bare spot where I lost lots of branches. Still in with a chance in the boys competition 😀

I'm going to monitor the progress of this plant. 5 weeks till competition time. This plant has been attacked by a toddler, it has been struck by an 8 year olds ball and I'm thinking has been scorched through a window. Fingers crossed it still has a chance of being judged.

HELP. This is my sons fuchsia. It's being entered into a school competition, it's been watered daily and fed. It seems to be dying from the bottom. It's looking bare rather than bushy. I pinched it quite a bit to bush it out but it's seems to be dying. It jas been living indoors too. What do i do??

Take it out of the pot and look for little grub/maggot type bugs around the roots @loopylauz

If its not weevil which they do attack fuchsias do you have it in direct sunlight as they cope better in part shade and maybe over watering it if its everyday in a small pot. Turn the pot upside down supporting the plant with your fingers to see if you can see any tiny white grubs as that's vine weevil they attack the roots. 😃

@Keely I have looked around the root ball and i can't see any grubs unless they are right under the soil

I would cut the branches down as far as you can to 2 new shoots if there is any if not take it to the base of the plant if its brown inside the wood of the branches and not green they are dead anyway so won't produce shoots but still chance to produce new growth from the base as it will revitalise it for him and they can soon shoot up, make sure you water from the base of the plant off a saucer and nit direct into pot if there is still water in the saucer its had enough so take it away and let..

It dry out more 🙂 hope this helps if it had weevil you would notice them as they tend to drop out of soil around root ball so sounds like its OK as that's a bad one you don't want 😣

@keely not sure it matters too much now. I put it outside and my son kicked his ball in in so it's completely broken 😣 I'm gutted. I might just try and still get rid of dead parts and hope new growth comes through the bottom. Thanks so much for your advice 😆

My son has been entered into a competition at school, he has to look after this. It seems to be me checking on it though. It has come on nicely this last week though. Wish I'd have taken the pic when it came home.
