WHAT!!? I've had a castiron plant for 35 to 40 years and never seen a flower! Obviously they want more heat than I have!😜💘😍

Shelley, you really have to search to find the flowers. They are usually under a bit of dirt and such. This is only the second time I have found them. Both times I was cleaning out leaves and only knew to look because my friend had told me about them. Apparently snails and slugs are their pollinators. @ShelleySnyder

@lovestogarden oh I see! That's probably the reason I've never seen one cuz I don't clean around it! Shame on me!!😜😂😂💘😍

A very rare occurrence! I saw a yellowed leaf on this today and pulled it. I ended up yanking this whole thing up and found it flowering. I have had this for over twenty years and have never seen this before! Start from Ma.

Yes very rare. Their flowers are formed on the soil due to them being pollinated by slugs in the wild. Great stuff @lovestogarden 🐌 😊 👍

Slugs? Not my yard! 😱 @sambucussam, ok, ok. I do have slugs and they are BIG! Finally there was something good that came from those slimy guys! Thanks for the info!

That is not to say slugs have pollinated your Aspidistra, but just in case they want too the plant will throw out a very low growing flower for them to reach easily. Quite cute really. But it is very rare. Goodo. 😀

Here is the picture @shelley. I only knew about the flowers because I was ripping out the overgrowth. I have not seen any flowers for quite awhile. Read @sambucussam 's note above. Interesting.
