This is the picture that does not show from the other day. #fuligoseptica #southerncalifornia #california 6 April 2018

It looks like cheese and chili

I thought you spilled your lunch on the ground 🤣

Interesting lol

Ooh, gross, but, yes it does @ambitiouswolf 😂😂 #lookslikeitsname

I think so too @Dazenrue2. 😎

What cause that mold

Oh dear Janice my gag reflex has kicked in!😳🤦💘😍

@ambitiouswolf this is a natural way to break down mulch and other woods and organic debris. It just looks disgusting. It spreads with spores and they only activate when conditions are perfect. It is world wide and causes no harm.

@ShelleySnyder, I am so very, very sorry! No more. I didn't post the last pictures of it drying because it looked too disgusting to me. 💓🤗

This is got to be one of the most appropriately named moulds ever. So fascinating!

Don't be sorry Janice! It's really not that big of a deal, it is mother nature after all!😚💘😍

Me three!🤨💘😍

I can see it. Did it change to that color??? Is it dying (?). Wonder why I can c it?? Have you ever had that on something before Janice??😊💕

@lovestogarden thats weird looks like throw up crazy fungus

Someone put cheese over...lololol

This has been fantastic to watch. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for letting me know you can't see it. I can't either now. 😂 I just reposted it. @cyndi @Soph1e @ShelleySnyder

@terrimclaughlin it does keep changing and now is black. I have never had it before nor seen it. If I had, I would have thought it was 🤮 💓

@hannahchristine it does! The common name is #dogvomitslimemold

@grantham it does look a bit like molten cheese. 💓 A much better thought. 👏

@r3trovertigo you are welcome. Crazy is interesting. 💓😎

This is the same, but changed again after the day's sun was on it. https://homeguides.sfgate.com/mulch-yellow-fungus-top-95495.html #slimemold #fuligoseptica #Dymondia #california #southerncalifornia 3 April 2019

Looks worse than the dog vomit fungus I had

How weird!

Oh my gosh this is not very appealing 💘😍

Well this answered the question. So it’s dying. It sure is ucky looking. 😂🤣. Only in California 🤭☺️🤣🤣🤣😂😊💕

This stuff is crazy strange! Over night it increased in size and density. This morning three #slugs we're on it, appeared to be dead, and then they just disappeared! https://homeguides.sfgate.com/mulch-yellow-fungus-top-95495.html #slimemold #fuligoseptica #Dymondia #wildlifewednesday #southerncalifornia 3 April 2019

Don't you step on it! Maybe it absorbed those slugs! 👽

Might be alien's poop

Janice I'm afraid for your life!!! I think the aliens have landed there!👽👽💘😍

Sounds like a bad 50s alien movie 😂😁😅

Looks a bit like the Yellow Dog Vomit Fungus (yes it’s really called that) I get on my lawn sometimes. That’s usually around September. Google image it for comparison.

What is going on ....on the ground

Wow! It's like something out of a 1950's B-movie 😲 Great if it eats slugs though! 👍

Check this out! This is Fuligo septica or Slime Mold. It is growing over #Dymondia. It is not a fungus, plant or animal, but it's make up is similar to an amoeba. It eats the bacteria and fungi in #mulch (now under the Dymondia) to break down. https://homeguides.sfgate.com/mulch-yellow-fungus-top-95495.html #slimemold #fuligoseptica #southerncalifornia 3 April 2019

Very interesting?? What causes it to be?? Is it morethe salt air or just a combination of things? So it’s beneficial 😊💕

That's interesting

I have not seen it before @cyndi, but I guess it doesn't take over then, if you have it randomly. Crazy!

I think so too @jyotu! 🤯

@cyndi, thank you for the info. 💞

The strange #dogvomitslimemold is back! 😖 Must like crazy hot, because this is our temperature. 🥵 #fuligoseptica #southerncalifornia #25 April 2020 😷🧤
Don't think I could have thought of a better name. How do you get rid of it?
It's raining here in #delhi
Oh yuck! I've had this before. Seems to me it was hot here too. I just let mine do it's thing, Mark, it takes some interesting steps. @maldavis
This is Gross !! I've never seen it before. Thanks for enlightening me. 😂
Never seen or heard about that in my area, Pasadena. What area are you in if you don’t mind me asking. @lovestogarden
It is not just slime. Apparently it has memory and the ability to learn. https://www.quantamagazine.org/slime-molds-remember-but-do-they-learn-20180709/ 🦋 https://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-11-26/slime-mould-tasmania-fungi-hunting/10554338 🐨
