“There has been much confusion between Kalanchoe thyrsiflora and Kalanchoe luciae. Most plants sold in the nursery trade are K. luciae, though they are often mis-labelled as K. thyrsiflora. There are two ways to tell which is which:- #1. Kalanchoe luciae tend to have redder edges to their leaves, especially when it is cooler.” Continued...

“#2. Flowers of K. luciae are not strongly scented and have an urnceolate flower tube with pale-yellow lanceolate corolla lobes. Those of K. thyrsiflora are heavily sweet scented with a cylindric flower tube and brilliant yellow broadly obovate lobes. So if you are lucky enough to see them flower (which isn't that common) then give it a sniff - the level of sweetness will tell you which one it is.” www.gardensonline.com.au/GardenShed/PlantFinder/Show_2809.aspx

Here’s a US reference: www.smgrowers.com/info/kalanchoeluciae.asp “In another bit of horticultural confusion, the plant long grown in the California succulent trade under the name of Kalanchoe thyrsiflora is actually the cloesly related Kalanchoe luciae.” As yours is red it isn’t K. luciae?
