My Southern California (zone 10a) garden has all kinds of plants mixed together; roses, ferns, succulents, vegetables,....

She has actually suffered some from being on the ground and hopefully will put out some new healthy leaves now. She is a favorite of mine. @ShelleySnyder @bobbyball

Well, it finally fell. This #elkhorn #fern is so heavy it broke the thick wire holding it up. I will be getting some help to lift this heavy fern and rehang it this week. #platycerium #platycerium-bifucatum #southerncalifornia 17 July 2022

Most folks who have them here in Florida hang them with chains 😉

I know. Crazy heavy. I am afraid the chains will rust fast @treefrog44 . I think I might have to rethink my view. I would love to know the weight. @juliesgarden @ShelleySnyder

This poor fern has had a lack of water, but it still going. But, WHAT IS HOLDING IT UP? The wire I use to hold it has broken, but it remains in place. Maybe it has attached itself to the wall. #platyceriumbifucatum #elkhornfern #fern #hanging #southerncalifornia 30 April 2022

She is back up and I put some crucifix orchids in the top just for the fun of it. Am i correct that this is an Elkhorn, not a Staghorn? #fern #elkhornfern #elkhorn

I righted her this morning as she was very dry, so not too heavy for me💪. She is thankfully just fine. 😱👏❤. @ofthought @nancyanne @purplebird @ShelleySnyder @tinaaune @cyndi

@tinaaune she is attached to a board with a hole in it. I now have thick-coated electrical wire used to hang her.

Beautiful! I got one of these as a gift, but no idea how to take care of them 😕 It's inside as a houseplant since we live in PA, but it's been super hot here all summer so far... would it rather be outside, maybe? How often do you water yours? It looks wonderful 😁

@aes239 I got this from my mother... she didn't want it anymore. It hangs getting only morning sun and the rest of the time it is shaded. I shoot it with the hose once a week if I can, or more if really hot/dry or forget it for a while. They like humidity. Try it....the leaves will tell you if it is unhappy. They come back pretty nicely if they are unhappy for a bit.

Thank you so much for the tips! 😀 Mine probably wants more humidity... The leaves are much lighter green & have a stiffer, almost papery feeling... Hopefully I can make it feel better now, with your advice! 😊
