Yes, @gjones. This is especially long. It is about 3', it is just not straight. 💞

This one grows huge and when it blooms, a new plant sprouts at each point there is a leaf or flower on the spike. The main plant dies, but with so many pups, you still have to give them away. The plant looks exactly like the pineapple tops I planted. @gjones

@gjones , I would gladly send you some when this has all the pups. They do take a long time to bloom, but worth the wait. Let me know. 💞

Oh, ok. @gjones, I understand California is the same way. Too bad. 💞

One of the many, many pups that the mother gave her life for. This pup has grown up and is blooming quickly. The largest of all the #Tillandsia. #tillandsiasecunda #southerncalifornia #california 23 September 2018

@lovestogarden is this growing in dirt

Yes. This one will grow in dirt and I have one in moss. The dirt ones always get larger and bloom, putting out tons of pups.

No thanks Janice, tho I appreciate the offer, I don't think I have the knack for bromeliads and my house does not like plants either so I'm not getting anymore that I have to bring in until I get a grow room set up. I was very disappointed after I moved in, to find it's too dark for anything but my corn plant! I lost several. :(

Understandable, Leslie. My house has very dark areas also. I think a grow room is the only way I could make it through a harsh winter. @lesliecole49

The plant is about 1' high and the flower spike is about 5' tall!
