Wonder if we hadnt had the storms, so much rain and it had been a bit colder over winter if I would have bigger elephant garlic. #gyo
sharonhayden
They look big to me!

@sharonhayden They are big Elephant garlic is very big each clove is between half and the size of a normal head of garlic. but they only have about 4 full gloves and 2 of them are only one clove. They all have small cloves around them that would have grown into full cloves had the conditions been better
sharonhayden
Ah huge then
lydiastirling
@sharonhayden oh yes 😁 but milder in flavour than normal garlic. Really good to roast and smoke
sharonhayden
Think I might try some

Just brought and planted today. 🤞they come up.
Any one eles fed up with how far behind everything is this year. Just dug up my elephant garlic. They look more like onions than garlic. All of them seem to be one extremely large bulb with a few tiny bulbs hanging on. They were planted in October so should have been ready last month. I rather desperately needed the pot they were in for my courgette. #gyo #homegrown
Yup. Not even picked one courgette yet ☹
Me neither @charlotte im just planting up young plants. Cucumbers are doing nothing as well.
I think my alliums are actually elephant garlic as the flowers are really tall but a greyish pink - do you let yours flower and if you do - as I have can I still eat them?!🤔
@sharonhayden ive never let mine flower so I dont know im afraid. If they are elephant garlic then yes you can still eat them.
I leave my garlic until August
@vegandmore sadly I don't have the space for that. My garden is very small. It should also be ready by the end of June.
Thanks anyway- I think they’re definitely elephants 🐘 someone thought they week leeks 🤔
