Thank you for your fantastic advise @jlsardina and @Christos dads very sad spider orchid is putting out plenty of new growth and starting to look a lot healthier.
I ended up removing most but not all of the roots in the end but found a some that where healthy(ish) at the the top. It's been sprayed with fungicide and reported with chopped up spagnam moss and fine orchid compost which has seramis in it.in a clay pot. Will get a light water tonight. Thank you @jlsardina and @Christos. I did find what looks like the start of a new phsydobulb at the base of one of the old ones so fingers crossed it should be ok now and make a full recovery.
This is my dad's very sad looking orchid. It's the only one that isn't thriving. According to the label it is being kept in the right conditions. But as you can see it is very unhappy. I was wondering if it could have a disease or if the roots are rotton. Any ideas @jlsardina and @Christos
Soak the pot for about 15 minutes then take the plant out of the media and remove any dead roots. Spray with a fungicide all over (hydrogen peroxide if you have nothing else (straight from the bottle). Then repot with new media (bark and sphagnum mix). If that pot is keeping it too moist, switch to clay. Plastic keeps humidity in. Remove any brown areas before reporting. If In a week the brown continues to spread, remove the whole pseudobulb. Only water once the media is dry
No problem at all! Only cut the squish roots! If there are none good enough to leave, you can leave it bare root in a clay pot over a humidity tray and just mist it every day and fertilize weekly and you may be able to save it with new roots in a few weeks. Repot once riots are 2” long
@lydiastirling Hope for the best. I agree with @jlsardina . For them works really well a mix with fine bark and chopped sphagnum moss. Try not to damage the healthy roots because are really sensitive.
