Having been bought up on a farm I love the outdoors. The small garden we have now at our first mortgaged house was just overgrown grass when we moved

Yesterday was time for a go at crown lifting on our very quick growing tree. It should make mowing the lawn a bit easier too.

A little more developed here. Still no idea what it is?

At first glance it looked like Rosemary. It wouldn't have the leaves with it though. Try smelling it see if it has a herb smell. The other leaves look like Sage. I think you need an expert and I am certainly not that lol. Hope you sort it out.

It's a tree, there's more photos if you scroll across. Thanks though x

It is a willow, looks very similar to our native eared willow we have here

I've discovered it's a female (green catkins) goat willow. The male ones have grey catkins. I suspect it's a bit of a hybrid maybe with a bay willow.

The tree was a gift from my sister in law. She got it in Rothbury, Northumberland from a roadside plant seller with an honesty box with no identification. I've had it for 3 years now and it's now just over 6ft tall. There is also a close up of the catkins on it mid spring in my unidentified pictures. Thanks folks.

Thanks @janric, I think you are right as it's growing so well. It's ideal for adding a bit of privacy/security for our side entrance to the garden. Love the structure it's giving too.

Pussy willow tree possibly. Have a look at my pic as I've got the same tree

@karyn thanks, I took a look. Same family maybe but not weeping and the bark on mine is more silver grey rather than red like yours. Thanks again though.

You are more than welcome and yes I'd say they must be from the same family x
