It looks like convolulous, does it climb and are the flowers like trumpets if they are I am sorry to say it is a weed and can be quite difficult to remove
Yep, i would agree with Kathy - its bindweed. Can be very difficult to get rid of as any small part if a root that is left in the soil after digging up means it can easily come back. Even a tiny 'cm's worth. If your keen keep it, i would be cautious to make sure it doesn't spread to your flower beds.
I've just move into my house and my garden is over run with this there are some lovely roses but even they are being taken over and the with every rain fall its growing very fast : help anyone
Hi Lynn 👋 Sorry to say the solution is not a quick fix as the Bindweed root system os notoriously difficult to erradicate as @richard.spicer.7906 has mentioned. You can try digging it out on a regular basis over a couple of years to try and ensure all roots are removed, particulalry new ahoots and growth in Spring. It's also possible to treat Bindweed with weed killer but you should take all necessary precautions to ensure it doesnt harm other loved plants such as the roses you mention @lorour
@lorour The best time to treat Bindweed with weed killer is when it's in flower. If the Bindweed has wrapped itself around your roses, I would unwind it, laying it on the ground before spraying all flowers, leaves and stems. Really hope this helps and good luck with getting rid of this pest 👍
Best way to deal with bindweed i find is to put in tall climbing poles / canes in your bed and train the end of the bindweed on to the poles at the bottom it will happily climb the poles and you csn then treat it with a sistemic weedkiller direct onto the plant which hopefully will go down to the roots. Keeps it off your plants! Having said that i still dont manage to get rid of it ! Just pops up elsewhere!
Help me identify this plant
Not sure if it is a plant or weed but it helps to hide the broken fence, what should i do with it ?
Hi Mark. I'm not sure but i know someone who might!! @kathy what do think this is? Or @richard.spicer.7906 and @justin do you know?
