I’m a piano teacher and artist, based in West Sussex - I know very little about flowers and gardening.

To water or not water; that is the question.

Use a wooden skewer to check the compost. If the skewer comes out dirty, don't water it. If it comes out clean, give it a drink and allow it to dry out fully before watering again. Ideally it should be in compost that's around 60-70% horticultural grit and 40-30% compost.

@Soph1e Thanks very much for your kind advice. How much is a drink though?

It's hard to say. If anything, give it less than you think it needs at first and water more frequently. You'll figure out what makes it happy pretty quickly.
