Can’t get the colour right on this.. it’s such a deep red

Thank you! It’s like velvet, will try getting a better picture @rhododendronmad

I thought the opening red rose was the tallest stem on this, until I was dead heading the Passion flower behind it and seen 2 more taller stems.. that I’ve now pulled forward so they are not being strangled

Looking well even though I’ve not planted it yet and had it a couple of years now and I’ve not pruned it either.. wondering if it’s too late to prune all my roses now? #advice-rose

@rachelbrooks

I would Imagine it is too late now. Rachel will tell you when to prune, I've only just started buying Rose's again after 30 odd years 😁

@jaynehynesburton thank you, I went a little rose crazy a couple of years back, but I hadn’t planted any... now rearranging the garden I’d like to give them a proper healthy home 👌🏻😊

She'll reply to you when shes sees it 😀

Eventually!! 🤪 @jaynehynesburton well technically according to pruning rules Mary, yes...however I never follow them do I Jayney?! I tend to prune bits throughout the year as needed Mary, so if there’s any dead or crossing stems I’d cut them out, but other than that I’d let them get on with it to be honest 😊

@rachelbrooks thank you... would they be ok to plant in the ground now too?

Yep! 👍🏼 Potted roses can be planted all year round, as long as the ground isn’t frozen! 😊

@rachelbrooks thank you very much for your help! I’ve got some manure so I’m hoping that will help them settle in... I think my soil is very much clay

They will love the clay Mary!! Bugger to dig though isn’t it?! Mine is all clay, the manure will definitely help, and some grit dug in will too!

@rachelbrooks it is indeed! I use a variety of tools as I have issues with my back... but can’t wait now to put them in.. have to wait till Tuesday unless I can find some grit in my garden now though lol

Makes me close to tears sometimes trying to dig a hole Mary, have such thick heavy clay, it is backbreaking. Take care! The grit can be added at any time, it’ll just help to break the clay down a bit and improve drainage 😊
Blooming it’s socks off…
