Grafted some rockhampton red scions onto regular hornbeam bareroots. Hoping to make some clipped cubes to add structure to the grass borders #graftyourown #grafting
🤞🏼 fingers crossed they take. A few of my grafts from last year all seem good which is great. Unfortunately none of my prunus grafts worked but hey ho, I’ll try again next year as not got any time this year to try them.
Apical wedge grafts last January if I recall. Tried it for Prunus serrula and also Tai Haku, onto Prunus avium rootstocks but I think the problem was we had a really warm Feb or march and they got too warm, buds opened to quickly before the union had formed. Oh well. We did chip budding later in the summer for Apples, and T-budding on roses, which were both successful, perhaps I should look at budding for the Prunus too?

@richard.spicer.7906 how did you do the prunus? I was shown summer bud grafting for them.

@richard.spicer.7906 yes definitely if you have the time and root stock.
