Please help me identify this plant. 😊😊
I think it's caryopteris unless someone says otherwise. I think @Jasonsparkes1 bought one this year. 😊 #plant-id
I've been eyeing it all summer in Wilko but decided to buy it next year. I need to let other plants that I bought this spring to grow and see where else I have space for more plants 😉 @Jasonsparkes1
@ublaszko Yes you're right I think it's the same one. I've just sent Jason a message. The thing.is mine's been there a while now at least a year or more but no sign of any flowering 😮I'm going to google and see if a move or what would help it. Thank you Ursula 😊😊
No idea, never grown it. Could it be the soil is too rich? I think I've read that it needs to be treated same as lavender.
@ublaszko Jason said it likes dry soil. It couldn't be in any drier soil than where it is. He also said the weather could be a reason. But that's about the only thing that hasn't flowered. Except for a shrub on my new patch, can't think of its name just now. Oh and a poppy plant also didn't flower. Everything else looked great. Some shrubs/plants that have never flowered, did this year 😊😊
Has the soil been ferilised? These silvery leaved plants like poor well drained soil that dries out between waterings. Also the encyclopedia link says it flowers late summer to autumn so maybe it's too early for this year's flowers. 😊
@ublaszko No I don't do things like that. It might have something to do with being too close to another plant and I mean very close. That surely won't help will it? I'll see what I can do 😊😊
😂😂 That made me laugh that you don't do things like that 😉👍 I think close proximity is not a problem. I read last night it's good to plant caryopteris next to another plant that is thirsty so that it sucks out the moisture in the soil around caryopteris. I think you're doing all the right things but no idea why it hasn't flowered yet. Maybe @moore.794 has some clever idea? I'm clueless 😅
Christine, have you checked it for aphids? Or other insects? The leaves around the bottom of the plant seem lighter and slightly yellow?
@ublaszko I checked it today and didn't see any 🐜bugs!! Thank you I'll ask Mr or Mrs Moore 794 😊😊
@ublaszko I'm not finding @moore.794 Ursula, I've searched through all the Moores and no one has a 794 number?😊😊
This is a first for me, no not the plant; but the fact that I bought it 2 or 3 weeks ago and planted it just today 😨shock horror I know!! It's usually given when I get home that I plant straight away or the next day. I noticed it flowering so I thought I'd better plant it. It looks much healthier than my existing Caryopteris. The soil is better where I've planted it so, here's hoping ☺☺💙💙
@ublaskzo I meant to tag you in on this one Ursula. I couldn't resist buying another one as it looked so good. Hope you're having a good weekend and no one else has scared sweet Pudgy ☺☺❤❤
It's a gorgeous plant! I'm looking where I can make space for one in my garden. Pudgy has been a bit traumatised this week with the ceiling collapsing in one of the bedrooms and then various people coming round to figure out where the water leak came from. 😟 But today she seems to be more or less her usual self, just a bit jumpy.
@ublaskzo Poor Pudgy, I hope she wasn't in the bedroom when it happened. Oh no ceiling coming down 😨not good. I was tidying up in the garden and I kept thinking where am I going to out it. A Delphinium had had it's down so I cut that down and moved a little pansy and hey presto I had space!! I'm happy with it there but we'll see how it fares. My other one looks terrible hardly a leaf on it and the stalks are woody looking. Hope you find a space and post it when you do. ☺☺going for a weeks hol2m
Luckily, Pudgy was in the hallway when it happened so she just got a scare but not been harmed. Have a great holiday! 😊😊
@ublaskzo That's good. Thank you I will ☺☺
