Me too @linfoster ! Planted giant bulbs for this year's display and these are definitely the ones for us in future...prefer the height and head of the giants. Bee magnets too! 🐝🐝🐝👍🏼

@linfoster we got a 'giant' bulb (to try for a change) from our local garden centre...a magnificent specimen grew from it, 3 long stems appeared with massive heads which the bees loved for weeks. Like the day of the triffids it was so tall but that was perfect with having a number of big, strong lupins this year, the height of this allium meant it held it's own....will take preference over the smaller bulbs for next year's display I think! 😏

I thought I was growing these in the garden, but was disappointed that they appear to be a dwarf variety and instead of being elegant and tall, they turned out short and stumpy. Is it just me or did i buy the wrong variety?

@greenlily it's very likely they were wrongly labelled or mixed up and you bought the wrong variety. Other than ensuring they are planted in a sunny spot, at the right depth and space, they are fairly hardy and I can't think of anything specific to make them short and stumpy. Trying again this autumn? I would recommend it, they are magnificent and worth every penny 💜😍💜
