Hemerocallis or the daylily does exactly what it says on the tin. Each bloom lasts a day, and then should be pinched off from the base of the spent flower bud. Beware though, the pollen from the spent flower buds can stain your fingers. #advice #tip #hemerocallis #daylily

Hi! My day lily is huge and has been in place for about 6 years. The past couple of years it hasn't sent up as many flower spikes. Do you have any idea why? Could it be conjested?

Mine haven't flowered yet but they are the star gazer lily @mikethegardener

@heronbay888 Yes congestion is the most likely answer. They should be divided in Autumn or Spring and replanted. A good feed in the spring will help the newly divided clumps. Good luck!

@mamarino Deadheading prevents the production of seeds, so the plants energy goes into better flowering 😊
