Morning all, hope you all slept well in the muggy weather. This plant was in mums house but was struggling and has been thriving in my back garden. I've looked in some observer books but cannot distinguish it when looking at illustrations. Any shrub/plant families you could suggest me to investigate would be greatly appreciated xx

Looks like a variegated Ficus, otherwise known as Weeping Fig. 😊😊😊

Hi this is a weeping fig and very much grown as a houseplant in the U.K. It does not like too much direct sunlight preferring the dapple shade of fast growing tropical forest trees. Regular misting of the foliage will help to maintain a humid environment the plant needs also it prefers 21c plus but must be at least 16c. Your Ficus has lost a lot of leaves and could be fine to the following points to consider. Watering to much or to little, low humidity, to much or not enough indirect sunlight.

Yes I would confirm it's a Ficus Benjamina 'variegata' (weeping fig) they can be quite temperamental as @igrowhort suggested they don't like being in a draught, too much or too little sunlight, or over or under watering.
