Okay, I'm tired of Googling and have decided that this is a #WesternSwordFern, a hardy and--once established--drought-tolerant #native #fern. I have two of these. One is planted in the shade garden up front. I decided to plant this one in this container because it's thick and retains moisture well, making it unsuitable for my succulents. This fern seems to be happy, sending out new fronds since I rehomed it.
Looks like Christmas fern, the leaves have a little turned out edge where they connect to the main stem, looks like a boot or stocking?? I tried to enlarge to make sure, but it blurred, so it’s only a maybe!

@alisons50 I'll post pictures of the leaflets and fiddleheads soon so we can (hopefully) get to the bottom of this mystery! 🤓
Ok
