The ripe “five-flavor” berries are said to be used in traditional Chinese medicine #wuweizi

Does anyone here have experience growing #wuweizi ? Curious to know if its sap irritates the skin.

When fully ripe, these berries will contain five distinct flavors: sweet, sour, bitter, pungent (spicy), and even salt! #wuweizi

These grapelike clusters will turn bright red come fall.

Here’s the male flower.

The female flower does indeed resemble a tiny magnolia.

While most Schisandra vines bear only male or female flowers, ‘Eastern Prince’ bears both on the same plant.
