@ShelleySnyder
@mynamesheidi oooh I see! (Couldn't see that in the other pic). Check for webs or any other kind of bugs and spray accordingly. If no bugs then it could be too much sun, toomuch water. If it's not bugs or the situation it's in then i'm stumped💘😍
@ShelleySnyder okay. I'll keep an eye out. I started to think maybe it was diseased and didn't know how to go about treating it. Thank you!
@mynamesheidi you are welcome!! Hope something was helpful!! Don't hesitate to @ anyone!!💘😍
@mynamesheidi ps that's an awful cute baby you got there!!!💘💘💘
@ShelleySnyder thank you so much! She's just as sweet as she is cute!
@mynamesheidi your welcome!! Also i've ask for more help on your plant!💘😍

Help me identify & save this plant. I know that it's a hydrangea I'm just not sure which type...

@mynamesheidi hi heidi, welcome to GTS !! The hydrangea you have is a mop head type. I don't really think there is anything wrong with it , sometimes they take time to start showing off for you. You have blooms that are done so that may be what looks a bit unsightly, you can remove those. If you want it bushier you can cut it back~but a word of warning~it will not bloom next year then. If you have any more questions be sure to put @ in front of the persons name, they'll get a notice💘😍
@ShelleySnyder I may have to post a better picture of the leaves then, cuz something is definitely wrong with it :( will post right now! Also thank you for identifying it for me! :)
@cyndi that is soo helpful! Thank you so much
I could give it a shot! & I'm very interested in making more from cuttings eventually :) I read that the winter cuttings were hardier so I was going to try it during the winter. You cut it to the ground completely? Like a stump? I'm clueless!
It doesn't get very cold here during winter. How did you amend soil? Use a hydrangea fertilizer? Any fertilizer? @cyndi
@ShelleySnyder
@mynamesheidi ok this looks more like a pest, do check💘😍
@Acetaker @columbiariver @lesliecole49 @KariSamuel @lovestogarden @cyndi and anyone else! Got any ideas as to exactly what this is!? Heidi needs help! Thanks all!!💘😍
@cyndi it has been raining a lot the past few weeks so I haven't been watering it. Our drainage is good, but I did recently cut away some lillies growing next to the hydrangea. So it may have more water than it's used to. I'm not sure. Maybe it's just that we've had so much rain
@cyndi we actually just bought our house so I'm not sure how old it is, but I assume it's been there for a while. I was excited to find out how both pretty and hardy they were! But then they seem to be going through a rough patch and it's sad to see. I'd like to see them nicer. It seems that there are never bright healthy flowers. Always some damage on the blooms :( it's facing north with a tall fence about 10 feet or so east. So maybe it needs more sun? I'm not sure. I can try the mulch.
I would love for it to get bigger ha
Because you have cut other plants away from it, could it possibly be sunburn? That is what mine had, but not sure if this would apply with all your rain.
@lovestogarden No I don't think so. I originally cut the lillies cuz they were growing everywhere, even within the hydrangeas base, so I thought cutting it back would give it more nutrients and such. It's up against a well shed so it gets plenty of shelter from the south end and some shelter from the east side as well but not as much
The leaf that looks bitten does look black, which makes me think some sunburnt, but for the most part it is the splotchy leaves.
If you don't think it's sunburn or water, I would also suggest the neem oil, it's pretty muti-functional stuff
@lesiecole49 finally tried the neem oil! I already see an improvement
