Stunning 😊🙏🏼

Thank you @pixierose

Looks good. Do you worry about the roots? I have always wanted to grow bambo (endles supply of garden stakes) but i know that they can become invasive then i read that clumping types are fine but over time can also become a problem

@kristina2 this is a clumping type which I planted about 5 years ago and was 1 metre tall. It is now about 10 metres tall. I snap off new culms where they are growing in the wrong spot and cut out old canes. They do drop a lot of leaves most of the time, so raking can be a chore, but heaps of mulch 😊

Wow 10m that is huge! probably not a type that would be good for my garden i can imagine them whipping around in strong winds. Looks lovely tho specialy when you have a closer look at the colour and paterns on the canes.

Wind sounds lovely in tall bamboo. @kristina2

@kristinab2 you can get clumping bamboo that don’t grow to massive heights.

Handy

How thick is it? it looks massive in the photo

@sushiwaitress the canes are 5 to 10cm thick and 10 metres tall. The clump has been kept at about 2.5 metres wide

12/12/18 a glimpse through the jungle

Is this quite invasive or well behaved

@carolgs this is a clumping variety not a spreading one but in saying that it is a large bamboo so it needs to be managed for its particular location 😊

I like that!

I love the colour of this so aptly named

Thank you @carolgs I do too

Really nice!

Thank you @dan5584

I bet you can make many things out of that! What is that red on my right far side (center)?? Is that growing from the bamboo?😊💕

@terrimclaughlin those films are about 8 to 10cm thick so they are good for a lot of stuff. That's a begonia flower stalk on the right

@terrimclaughlin culms

It’s well named Nej. 👀👻👀

Wow🤗

Are those leaves growing out of the bamboo?👍🏻👍🏻😊💕

I love it🤗

@terrimclaughlin they are dormant leaf buds but further up they grow out, if you prune it down these will be activated

Thank you @godfreye I do too

20 /01 /18 just harvested bamboo shoots for the first time. Boiled for 1 hour and taste sweet. Will be great addition to stir-fry

Ooh wow! Didn’t know you could eat them! Does it have to be a specific variety of bamboo?

👌📸👌📸👌📸👌

@belindah some are no good as they are too bitter and they have too much cyanide but if you boil them and keep changing the water then most are good

@nej Oh wow!

@mikethegardener yes this is the first time I have fresh bamboo shoots they are very tender

Very clever Nej ...Yum 😁

I love fresh bamboo shoots. Stir fried with beef and basil.

Now that’s impressive Nej @nej

Never seen those before🤗

Having bamboo in the garden means regular workouts raking the leaves they constantly shed, but I think it's well worth the effort. #bamboo #bamboo-advice

Good...Keeps you Fit 😊

It sure does @gauravsh6

I had bamboo surrounding my decking in my previous garden. Loved the sound of them swishing in the breeze🤗

@Denise16 yes lovely soothing sounds I'm sitting here listening to it now

Hi @nej is this an invasive variety of bamboo. I have a bamboo as a sort of screening, yours looks more different than I have seen before.

@d.roberts this is a clumping type but quite large

I really like that🤗
