Thanks for the post. I've seen the same trees here in Ventura but never knew what they were called. Definitely one of the strangest things I've seen.

I looked up the flower. It's Very Pretty. Resembles a hibiscus.

@sherrisgarden when i took this photo in early february there were no flowers just the big balls or seed pods but the flowers are pretty delicate n pink on this ruff spikey trunk. 🤪

If you think about it.. it is ironic to have such pretty flowers on such an unusual trunk. Gotta love mother nature.....

Love those trees their leaves are like heart shaped,I have a baby one that I grew from a seed that also found at a park 😂

Just noticed this is not the same one lol but the trunk looks similar 😂😂
