1/19/19 Watered today. Slowly growing out of the burns.

1/4/19 I dun goofed with this guy again. I was adjusting my grow lights and my pinky nail stabbed a leaf. It’s one of the burned ones so not too huge of a deal but I’m worried it might rot. 🤞🤞 hope not!
Oh no!!!

Played with the top dressing a lil bit. #succulent #echeveria #topdressing
Your top dressings are beautiful!
Thank you so much @jennlamay! I’ve been bidding on little scoops of crystals and rough gemstones on eBay to use as top dressing. I bid like 20 cents on like over 500 things and won 180 of them. Most for just 1c and all with free shipping. I’m trying to look fancy over here but on a budget lol! The sand is from the dollar tree. This pot has some gemstones mostly from Best6689 on EBay.
You got that sand from dollar tree? Is it coarse? I've been looking for coarse sand, but the only thing I've found is acquarium substrate at places like PetSmart and it's like $5/lb which is OUTRAGEOUS.
@sushiwaitress it is pretty coarse. I can take a picture of some sprinkled on a coin or something for reference if you’d like.

@Yollymac @Muzz67 it looks worse and worse the more it grows out. 😭
Are you please able to get it in natural light and message me some photos? 😢

There is a tiny piece of perlite stuck between some of the leaves and it is driving me insane. #progress #succulent #echeveria #echeveria-lauii
Try using something like a turkey baster or camera lens cleaner to blow it out with a puff of air. That way you won't spoil that gorgeous farina!
@Soph1e I have something I bought just for this reason that I totally forgot about omg thank you!
🤗 such pretty colors! I love their round shape leafs, I can't wait for mine to some color in

10.6.18 wow this guy looks different! Just got it under a grow light. The window it is in does not get enough light for both of the lauis. It was starting to turn green again with all the overcast weather and rain we’ve been having. Person I bought it from said it was a pink laui. @yollymac ? #succulent #laui #echeveria-lauii
Why those lower leafs are red and upper ones are green??
@jyotu I got these early August in the mail. The white stuff all over them is a really thick farina. Farina is like sunscreen for plants. Lauis have a lot of it and it is really easy to rub off. When lauis get stressed they turn pink. They only look pink because of the white farina. White+red=pink. When this one came through the mail a lot of the farina was rubbed off, so you can see the red leafs. It was not getting quite enough light for a while so it lost some of it’s sun stress.
@jyotu it is under a grow light now and is getting stressed again and losing the green. The parts that are really red do not have farina to protect it so that will stress/burn easier I suppose.
However its looking great 😄

Finally! Putting it over water probably actually didn’t do anything but huhheyyy I see roots. Back on soil she goes! #laui #roots

I mean it def has some growth happening just no roots. 😥
@cyndi this is just the top view of that last one I posted a picture of the underside. I had it on soil for a while, but just took it off last night and have it sitting on a candle thingy bc it looks neat and there aren’t any roots anyways lol

The pink laui on the other hand... how to promote root growth on this one? Should I damage the stem a bit? Hover it over some water??
@Cyndi yes. Also thanks for the tags, I’m the WORST at tagging stuff lol. I haven’t had such a large succulent take this long to root before. 😭 I’m pretty sure I paid More for this guy than I have any other succulent ever too, so I’m a bit excessively worried even though it’ll probably be okay
@Cyndi I water therapy all the time, but I suppose I’m scared to do anything at all with this one. I was thinking about just hovering it over water and not letting it touch like I usually do. See if it can smell the water and would be willing to reach down for it lol
@cyndi with the humidity here I’m soooo scared this guy will just keel over without warning. I should really keep it outside where it gets more sun, but humidity is lower indoors. I should get lights and keep the ones I worry about inside. I spent all my plant money on more plants instead of lights which is honestly more important than new plants. I have a problem. Pls help. I can’t stop.
@KelsiBriana has been on dry soil this whole time, just took it off last night and have been kind of “hmmmmmm 🤔🤔” ing in it’s general direction all day lol. I’ll put it back on soil and try my best to forget about it. Wait, I’m gonna try the water hovering thing for a week before I go back to the old fashioned way.
@KelsiBriana noooo! It IS torture. I find myself looking real intensely trying to will roots into existence haha. Did your suaveolens use up a lot of leaves before finally putting out roots. I have had smaller plants turn into almost nothing before deciding to put out roots before. So frustrating!!
She will root. The stem looks good.

8.19.18 not much happening with this one. Has a single little root last time I checked. Not seeming thirsty like the other guy. #succulent #succulentsunday
They are sooo slow growing!!
@Yollymac I went and got these bigger ones bc my seedlings from earlier this year are still like a mm across. The small one I got a while back got root rot so I cut it. Honestly thought it was a goner but FINALLY put out a root last week. It is so small now. The farina on these are gonna look doodoo for a long time 😢
I feel your pain. Xo

My tiny Laui got root rot. Thankfully I was able to cut it in time and has a new root growing. I will have these new lauis on the windowsill for another day or two until putting them outside in more intense light. Wish my room got enough light that I could keep them there always! #succulent #echeveria #echeveria-lauii
That looks like a perfect name for it 😍
@kylers I think so too! I could have sworn I was following you. Hmm. Must be like what @KariSamuel has had happen on her follow list
