Do you remove substrate when you top dress or do you just pile on top?

@mauspad I used a Capri sun straw to blow some out to make it a bit more level. Then I went with tweezers and pulled anything that would poke through the dressing and adjusted everything to make it real level. I put a thin layer of really gritty white sand and then the obsidian/quartz pebbles on top in another thin layer trying not to smother it. Oh yeah Tweezers for the dried up leaves and Capri sun straw again to blow some pebbles and sand off of the bottom leaves.

@mauspad you are mistaken. I got that straw in a pizza lunchable that I ate last week bc I was craving it 😂😂 I have a thing for the pizza ones okay lol. Atom doesn’t get junk like that, his dad and I are super addicted to junk food bc we ate a lot of it growing up so Atom gets all healthy homemade stuff bc we are trying to break that cycle. Us “adults” still eat like children though lmao

@Yollymac When I first got these a few months ago, I had someone come over to look at my plants and trade cuttings. I brought these out and put them on my table so I could show them to the girl. ANYWAYS the FIRST thing she did when she got here was walk right up to THIS one and start rubbing the leaves. I keep them all locked in my room now. Tried taking one out to show a friend last week and was very specific for her not to touch. She started waving her hands around like two inches above it

to make me nervous. NEVER AGAIN. Only showing ppl pictures from now on.

Lauis doing pretty great I think. Ended up putting a T3 over them in addition to the cheap led grow light and idk it seems to be making a little bit of a difference. The back one is looking pretty pink. The burns on it are pretty ugly though. #laui #echeveria-lauii #lauii

@Yollymac thanks. I didn’t mark the other one as laui pink because it looked way different than the one you post. There is one more under the laui pink link that looks like what the seller I got mine from was advertising but I don’t think it’s the right ID. 🤔

Regular Laui.

I have decided that this is getting enough light in this window. This corner receives the most light. The laui next to it gets a little less light so I went on wish like @Cyndi suggested and got a cheap grow light just in case. Thanks btw Cyndi! #echeveria #echeveria-lauii

Been raining all week so I brought the lauis back in. Def see some new growth on this guy! I’ve watered it twice now, but I don’t think the roots are quite established enough, so it’s using up it’s bottom leaves. Which is coo, they ugly anyways 😂😂 Been peeking under just to make sure no rot or anything is going on and everything looks fine. #echeveria-lauii #succulentsunday

8.24.18 just moved these outside today. Kinda just wanna keep them inside. Looks like there has been some new growth, but I’m just not sure if it was getting enough light. Kinda looks like it though.

8.19.18 Finally got some roots but I’m still scared to water it. It is looking thirsty though.. should I water therapy it instead of bottom watering? I’m strongly considering leaving this inside, so I’m a bit worried the soil may take longer to dry out. Really upped the grit in this soil mix JUST IN CASE. #succulent #succulentsunday

Smaller of the two new lauis. I wonder if I collected enough if I could rub them on my body and use the farina as sun screen. Probably wouldn’t block the right rays... ☹️
