How many sweetcorn plants do you have, @opheliasgarden , there doesn't look enough to pollinate there, usually need at least six/eight in a clump, do pollination also depends on when you sowed them yours could be soon 👌👍

@bookworm68 - there was 20, now 16, all 10" apart :) I mean the top tassles haven't come up yet, I'll be helping them to pollenate when they do, but no signs so far

I wouldn't worry. They'll come. I just planted some new seedlings 3 weeks ago. All about trial and error. Have to say chicken poo is the best sweetcorn fertiliser. Mine get to 6 foot in a matter of weeks.

I need to get some chicken poo @charlie83 - I am just very impatient this year 😆

I know the feeling. Not sure if you've had it before, but homegrown sweetcorn is well worth the wait! 2 mins from garden to plate!

And go see your local chicken farm. They have plenty of poo and for most smaller productions it's just a waste product1

I've grown everything but sweetcorn for years - this is the first time we have had the space. I know the equestrian centre at the back of us has chickens so I may have to scrounge for that and manure now ;)

Well worth a try. Some friends of mine have chickens and scrape the bottom for me every now and again! 😂. Alternatively wait til it's on offer!
