Finally planted my 2 #carobtrees in front drive. Fingers crossed they can survive heat this summer. Has anyone else had success with them and what's their growth rate like?
If only it was the good red soil. Our area is what most people would call #marginal and summer is always long, hot and brown. I have 2 boiling weeks every summer when I never know what will turn up it toes and die. But it's an adventure seeing what works and will survive and we having been slowly working at it for 12 years and still have a long way to go. 🤔
I have wanted one for a while but don't have one as mostly recommended to have multiple for good germination. It should be fine in the heat as its native to the Mediterranean. 😀
I bought one in Alice Springs (so heat tolerant I would think) about 1990 as a gift for someone & it grew in south east Queensland without watering after it was established. Slow grower, but it was a nice rounded fairly compact tree last I saw it in 2006, guessing about 6-8 foot high. If that helps. There was only 1 so I don't know about fruit.

Wow look at your rich red soil and dry conditions. It looks like you are creating an oasis 😀

I've not come across anyone else growing them... Nor were there hashtags for them... Perhaps @kathyb can help though?
