Morning everyone. There are lots of flowers open now on my #peony-festiva-maxima but nowhere near as many as in previous years. I wonder if this is yet another casualty of the bad winter 🤔🤍

Morning Jane, my garden is way behind than last year and lots haven’t grown much or appeared at all 😢

We went past a whole field of cauliflowers at the weekend , all dying because of the lack of rain and this cold wind , fields that already are brown and look like end of August the farmer must have lost so much money .. still none on forecast for at least a week 😢

Oh noooo, I caught a squirrel digging in my best foliage pot this morning, very rarely get squirrels in I think @charlotte has shood hers up to mine after digging up her flower 😬😣

I’m sure they were 😂Yesterday I watched the petals falling off a peony flower I had cut and put in a vase. It took all of 5 mins. Seriously. Looks like you have lots of other flowers you can still enjoy

My mother once gave me a red peony and told me it could take up to 7 year before it bloomed after transplanting, I of course was very young and thought no way is it going to take that long! Seven years later it bloomed white! Which was disapointing because it was up against a white fence, but after a few years it did turn very dark red😄 sadly I don't have it anymore!💘😍

This Peony was one of the first things I planted in my garden when we moved in May 2015, it was a gift from a friend and it has buds for the first time. I don’t know which it is and I don’t care, over the moon is an understatement 😍😍

Can I suggest you clear away some of the mulch? A local pro-peony grower told me the most common reason for a peony not flowering is covering the plant with mulch #peony-advice 👍👌😊

God Jane @pelly come round mine Mess is an understatement so much to cut back why on earth did I plant all these shrubs that grow so big then think it’s a good idea to have 2 willow trees in the garden amongst everything else, if only I knew then what I know now 🤪 oh well will keep me busy for a few weeks sorting it all out as I’m sure yours will 😘

That's one issue I don't have, trees, apart from the one in the front garden. With my garden not being too big I'm being very choosy about what shrubs I plant as I don't want anything that grows too big Suzie. Don't forget that mine is a relatively new garden so I can make these choices, whereas if we'd been here a long time I'd probably be in the same situation as you. I would love to see your garden one day, it looks beautiful. @jadojado29 😍😘

Honestly I don’t know why I have so many trees Jane @pelly 6 in total & I would say my garden is possibly the same size of yours not much bigger. Oh Jane would love it & of course to meet up with you would be fantastic we will get there sooner rather than later 😍😘

@pelly this happened to mine and I read that I may have planted it too deep so I lifted it nearer to the surface and have flowers every year now, might be worth a try, I decided I had nothing to loose 😄

@katgreen that's interesting, I have one that doesn't bud too. It's very close to a bhuddia so I presumed that was the reason. I was worried about moving it but maybe I'll try🤔

@Denise16 well I decided with mine if it was never going to flower I had nothing to loose so it was worth it for me and it paid off 😊
