More #newgrowth Iโ€™m getting worried about the big drop in temperature next week as I have quite a few perennials showing now. Should I put an extra layer of mulch around them? #advice-needed please ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”

Your not on your own Jane I'm worried too not sure what to do it's more about protecting new shoots from frost so if anything fleece is best or a cloche I think unless anyone else has any other suggestions ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Well if I was outside in the conditions forecast I would appreciate a thermal layer !!!!

Most perennials are hardy Jane, so personally I just let them get on with it ! I find most things survive or put up more shoots if they get frosted. Is that phlox? Should be OK. Maybe protect salvias if they have shootsโ˜บ

Thanks Jane I seem to have already lost a few plants over winter still time for them to come up but normally this time of year tiny shoots coming up but no sign might be the lack of sunny days this winter still hope ๐Ÿ˜”

I know how you feel Jane. I was the same last year with plants I had in pots that Iโ€™d never had before. I kept bringing them in the summer room on cold nights and taking them back outside. Iโ€™m sure I didnโ€™t need to, but it made me feel better ๐Ÿ‘
