Need help identifying this hedge plant growing in garden in north Germany. Has grown tall — over 8 feet — and very woody inside (some branches with thorns). Leaves not as shiny as other laurels in garden, and grey/bluish underneath. Any ideas?

Hi Peter, it looks like an Elaeagnus, maybe Elaeagnus x ebbingei which is commonly used as hedging plant. Hope that helps point you in the right direction 👍🏼
