This plant has no sentimental value and I've only had it three years but I am devastated knowing it will die once it's done blooming. I would forgo the beautiful blooms to save its life if I could. Just reminds me that nothing is forever and am thankful for this amazing plant to show me its beautiful blooms at the end of its lifecycle.

My hen will bloom with a double flower any day now. #succulentsunday
Let it bloom, i see you have another and they usually reproduce very quickly during the summer :) this one here is a sempervivum if you wanted a bit more identification :)
Thank you @cactusboy123 this is very helpful. Once it blooms do I have to separate it from the other chicks n hens or is it a separate plant already.
It's already a separate plant :) after it had fully bloomed it will turn brown and die. If you wanted to gain a few more plants, you could remove some of the bottom leaves and propogate them :)
Also it's quite cool how you have two flowers coming out of one plant, I've only ever had one :)
Thanks @cactusboy123 for the propagation tip. I'll definitely do that. It's sad to know this is going to die. And i agree, two blooms is pretty cool.
Glad I could help :)
@cactusboy123 sorry, one for question. Will the spent blooms make seeds that can be harvested? @cyndi
I'm not sure, I don't think mine did. I think that might be because I didn't have another it could pollinate with :)
Remember last year when my hen bloomed and died. Her sacrifice gave way for many new chicks this season. I am thankful to see them doing so well. They sit atop a stone soon to be planted in a new home. #hensandchicks #zone5 #zone5b
