Also new this week, a fern for the shady part of patio. It doesn't look too happy so hoping it perks up soon.

The Japanese painted fern is deciduous so don't worry about it 'dying off'. Ours always takes a while to get going in spring too @pie

My fern is coming through strongly now. Not sure when I can trim down the residual iris leaves growing around it to give it more space. Any advice welcome!
