I think as long as your trunk is strong and healthy the leaves dont matter much u can always cut it back and let it regrow in spring
@heatherdirtyhands girl I ended up chopping the leaves off maybe a week after this picture... I couldn't wait anymore haha. Definitely wasnt the best time to do it but it's sending out new growth now so oh well lol
