Nice break from that yellow I normally get from opuntioid cacti.

Its difficult to capture this plant detailed in photo but if you comoare it to the first photo I have of it, youll be in awe. One of my favorite cacti! So long as I dont have to touch it!

...And it flowered for the first time! Surprised me with deep fuschia flowers.

It was so sickly, limp and sad in a pot and I was tired of being stuck by it's barbed spines so I planted it outdoors essentially to let it die, not knowing that it could apparently survive North Carolina Winters. So it it is a couple years later living its best and healthiest life. 😄

As they would say at Reddit, it's a task failed successfully 😁

The one in the foreground spent all winter there and survived so now they both are planted here and new growth has come in and now I like this plant again!

I mean, look at it! Its just an ugly mass of hooked barbs assaulting your eyes and wanting to assault your skin! We still love all our babies tho!

My least favorite of my cacti. Ugly cactus, strange slow growth, vicious spines. What's to love? Before you go judging though, just know I treat it with the same care and love I treat my other plants with! 😤🤗😂
