Definitely edible. I'm very partial to them .. well, to all edible gourds, really. These are versatile in their usage: they can be used to make a sweet Indian pudding, or a light savoury preparation tossed in cumin, turmeric, green chilli paste etc!! I prefer the savoury dish @gjones
