It has, @latebloomer ! I cracked an egg and buried it deep last month (advice from the nursery).

Feel free to try it, @latebloomer :) this was my first time trying it too! I just put a whole raw egg (shell and all) about 3" deep, stabbed it, then covered it with soil/compost.

It should be sunny - unlike other jams, we do not heat the mixture on the stove, and have to rely solely on the natural heat of the sun. I wonder if the oven would work *filed away for a rainy day - literally!*

@latebloomer also we just go with plain old sugar, not pectin.
