This is a new plant in my garden, and relatively new in India too (new on GT too apparently). It wasn't for sale, but I managed to convince the manure vendor to give it to me anyway! It's native to Central America and Florida, and every part of the tree is useful, from extracting edible oil to medicinal uses. #paradisetree #newonGT #medicinal #rare
Haha thanks @latebloomer :) here's a link http://lakshmitaru.com for detailed information. This second link: https://www.artofliving.org/laxmi-taru has some condensed info
The species was introduced in India by a spiritual yoga guru. Now, my state has large scale plantations growing these trees, besides agricultural labs dedicated to studying the potential uses (such as biodiesel production) @latebloomer
Thanks for sharing your discovery! Lots of uses this tree has, I was reading up on it, and when you decide to plant it make sure it is away from paved surfaces, it's roots grow close to the surface and can cause upheaval. Also it is dioecious, not sure how to tell if you have a male or female? Beautiful tree :)
Absolutely @treefrog44 :) I won't be planting it out for another year. And as for the gender, I did see photos of the male vs female flowers online, but I'll have to wait
