Hi everyone, been a while since I’ve been on gt been busy with work and miss the garden. My hibiscus is starting to open can’t wait to see the flowers

I decided to get one next year 😍👍

@ublaszko you so should, I’ve read the flowers don’t last long but they get so many

@ublaszko have trimmed off infected leaves and bought a black spot spray and given it a spray tonight, thought it would look patchy but loads of new leaves ready to grow in :) thanks for your help

It doesn't look like there are bare patches. Well done! 👍You probably don't need to spray it again for a couple of months and the spray will be handy for other plants. You could use it on your rose 'Peace' as you don't know what conditions it was growing it before so it's worth spraying it once as a prevention. Just avoid using the spray when it's sunny as it can burn the leaves. I usually wait for a cloudy day or do it in the evenings.

Thanks :) the back of the bottle says I can use it for my rose like you said and my rhododendron too

Morning everyone. Can anyone help me with these black dots on my hibiscus plant? Only bought it a month ago from a good garden centre and it was looking so healthy with all the foliage growing but a lot of the leaves are now covered in these spots :( #help #hibiscus #blackspots

It appears on both underside and top of leaves

@ublaszko could you help? :)

I don't know much about hibiscus but had a quick look on Google and it's either black scale insects of fungal black spot http://homeguides.sfgate.com/causing-brown-black-spots-back-leaves-hibiscus-plants-92922.html

Thank you @ublaszko I think it’s probably the fungal one says it is mostly harmless but I will be careful not to wet the leaves when I water it. Maybe trim off a few badly spotted leaves also

I think you're supposed to remove all of the affected leaves so the disease doesn't progress to the new growth and worse still to the flowers. It's always better to water the soil around the plants rather than the plant itself and try to avoid watering lower leaves as they will increase humidity around the plant which with warm temps causes causes a lot of problems. Tbh, I find that you can't avoid humid conditions in UK gardens so it's worth spacing the plants out to let more air in.

Hehe seen this at a garden centre and nabbed it, one off my wish list can’t wait to see the beautiful colours in summer. Decorated top of the soil with stones and sea glass from the beach and little glass ornamental pebbles my mum had lying around, keep little weeds at bay that sprout in so many of my pots

Evening Rachael @rachael27 I haven’t got this one but just looked & it’s a Fabulous colour 💜 can’t wait to see it flowering?, Great choice 👌😍😘

Hi @jadojado29 my friend had a blue hibiscus and it was so pretty and tropical looking for a hardy plant so I had to get one, blue is my favourite colour will definitely be posting pics when some flowers appear :) 💙💙
#flashbackfriday lovely shades of purple 💜
