I thought the bee was very unusual myself @jeatacake ! It has very long legs as well that are only really noticeable when it's crawling and moving around.

I just googled Carpenter Bees @ambitiouswolf, and you're totally right! Thank you, and now I know these are not good bees to have around. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for their nest. Unless it's just one Carpenter Bee visiting my garden and moving on, I hope...

I have a lot of them. Can be hard to find the nest.

Look for single holes in untreated wood. Tho there may be several holes...or new fine sawdust where there 'wasn't any yesterday'

I planted this narly clearance Primrose last fall, and so it's the first time this has ever bloomed. It's definitely in need of a haircut after it's done blooming though.
