Helleborus orientalis "White Spotted Lady", photographed 17 Mar 2017 at Reedie Cottage Garden, East Scotland. A stunning, extremely hardy and a profusely flowering plant. Looks stunning in garden right now. #helleborus #whitespottedlady

@pelly Thank you Jane. I grow lots of Hellebores. I have hundreds growing in 9 &12 cell trays, & also in 9cm pots. Some are true, others are crossed - by hand pollination. I also lift self-seeded plants, once they are approx 1yr old. I'm sure I have some unique plants, but I love them all! I have to wait until they're 2-3yrs old before I get a flower, and then I know what I have. I've seen what others have produced and I'm absolutely blown away by their results!!! 😀

@pelly I used to have a good sized nursery, but following a major spinal injury, I had to close it. I still grow/produce plants. I am currently rebuilding my stock and variety of plants, altho on a smaller scale than before. I'm in process of setting up a new website, so I can sell plants & seeds online. I'll post on here once it is all set up and I go "live"! In the meantime, you can see how my garden has developed via Facebook "Reedie Cottage & Gardens". I also post my plants on my FB page 😀

@SylviaDavies I have about 30 named varieties, and tbh I couldn't say how many hybrid forms from natural cross pollination. Some I cross pollinate by hand, then enclose the flowerhead in a net hood to stop bee pollination on that flower - I label hoods with parentage. I then plant up the seeds, once they've matured & fallen in to the net hood, and wait approx 2-3yrs to see what the flower looks like! I prob have some unique plants, which I call H. × hybridus "Reedie Cottage... (something)" 😀

@SylviaDavies Thank you. It has been a steep learning curve!!! I must dig out the original photos, to scan & post here, of what this place looked liked nearly 15yrs ago!!! We were also renovating the house at same time. I remember saying to my wife, that I could live with the house needing work, but not with what I could see out of the windows!!! In fact some windows you couldn't see out of, due to how overgrown it was!!! Hard work determination, and vision is all I can say!!! Worth it tho 😀
