Hesperis matronalis 'Albiflora'. Photographed, 2 June 2017, at Reedie Cottage Gardens, East Scotland. Also known as White Sweet Rocket, this a perennial or biennial plant, that readily self-seeds. I get a great show of these plants year after year. Hesperis matronalis 'Albiflora' (Sweet Rocket). Photographed yesterday, 21 May 2017, at Reedie Cottage Garden, East Scotland. Highly scented, spikes of pure white flowers above rosettes of dark green leaves. This is a biennial or short-lived perennial that readily self-seeds. Fragrant flowers perfume the air in spring and early summer evenings. The flowers are also edible! I sow in the long borders to add splashes of white & fragrance. #sweetrocket #white #reediecottagegarden

Hesperia matronalis. Photographed, 2 June 2017, at Reedie Cottage Gardens, East Scotland. This is the purple form of Sweet Rocket. It looks and smells fab. The colour intensifies at dusk. I have the growing in amongst a Sambucus 'Black Lace', where the purple stands out against the black foliage of the Sambucus. #hesperis #matronalis #purpleflowers #sweetrocket #scented #reediecottagegarden
