Hippeastrum (Double Galaxy Group) 'Dancing Queen'

Amaryllis hippeastrum. Photographed today, 3 May 2017, at Reedie Cottage Garden, East Scotland. What a difference a couple if days make. Was only just starting to open, and now in full bloom . there is a 2nd bloom starting to open on opposite side to This one, with a 3rd bud getting bigger in between. The flower than just keeps giving!!! 3rd time it has bloomed this year 😀

Amaryllis hippeastrum. Photographed, 1 May 2017, at Reedie Cottage Garden, East Scotland. This only flowered at start of March this year, with 3 big blooms. Here it is again starting to open 1st of 3 blooms!!! This plant seems to have a mind of its own! Flowers at all the wrong times of year, and about 3-5 times a year....not that I'm complaining 😀

@SylviaDavies My parents bought me this Amaryllis on a trip to Holland. It flowers through the year at odd times!!! Usually 2 flowers, followed by a 3rd. It flowered for ages! I cut it back after it flowered, and it's pushing up another flowerhead already!!! Usually get 3 or 4 separate flowering a year. It must like the conditions in the kitchen 😀 The flowers are even more impressive in real life - both in colour and size!!! 😀

Oh wow! What a gift of joy, especially if it keeps on going! You have a brilliant one there! How long do they last for I wonder as in lifetime?

@SylviaDavies I don't know to be honest. Been performing well since I got it nearly 5yrs ago. Bulb just keep get bigger and bigger! It it now I'm a 3L pot. I did start it off in a 1L pot after getting a tad pot bound, I moved it up 2yrs ago. It is starting to get a bit pot bound again, so I can see it going in to a 5L pot soon. I'm usually hopeless with indoor plants as I forget to water them!!! This, however, appears to have worked in my favour with my Amaryllis! 😀

Amaryllis hippeastrum 'Dancing Queen', flowering in my kitchen today, 6 July 2016. This is supposed to flower Winter/Spring! Confused, but happy 😀😀😀

Mine has only just flowered. Not sure why it flowers so late. My Christmas cactus is currently flowering . Must be the Norfolk climate !!!

It flowered at Christmas, and then I cut it back. I put it on windowsill in kitchen, and it burst in to growth again April/May!!! Hoping it will flower again this winter this year / spring next year!!! 😀
