I'm guessing its good to prune because I did not and tree is so thick with fruits that its breaking off branch.

You could pull off some of the fruits to lighten the load. A peach orchard near my hometown does this. They just leave the fruits on the ground under the tree so the nutrients go back into the soil (but maybe not the best idea for a lawn).
