Caught the Old Rose bug in the 90's and they have taken centre stage in my gardens ever since. I overfill my borders to the point of ridiculousness!

@hobnob Apparently we chaps spend an average of £25 on a typical evening in the local pub. Now to me that equates to at least two bare root roses delivered in the Autumn. If like me, your other half frequents his local twice a week, then by my reckoning you are fully justified in ordering 104 new roses! Logic see!!! 😄

Mmmm I like your logic @RicardoListeretti ! My other half doesn't frequent pub twice aweek as we live in middle of nowhere and nearest pub in about 4 mile away 😯 but he does like his craft bottled beers..which are not cheap! (But I do like my vino too) mmm will have to add up the alcohol against the flower spend me thinks 😃😃😃

In fact 208 not 104. My logic is better than my maths @hobnob!

A perfect bloom of this climbing Bourbon (1893) is truly a wonderful thing. This is growing in a deep pot at the back of my house. It despises the rain so I'm posting this picture now before it browns off and turns into a soggy mess :)

@hobnob @titchyfra - thank you 😊 - not the easiest to grow but well worth the effort if you can find a sheltered spot 😊

Yes! Choose once flowering, old French shrub roses that need no pruning other than a tidy up every couple of years. Most are disease resistant, shade tolerant (within reason) and will grow in relatively poor soil. Get on it! :)
