Found some more Alliums coming through #newgrowth

Love alliums but have never had any, is it too late again?

Hi @MarieMartin , technically no but buying them now will be more costly. You probably won't be able to buy 'packs' of bulbs at this time of year for most alliums as they will already be in there growing season. However, you will readily find bulbs that have been started off in pots in the garden centres. They will usually have small 9cm pots available, I saw some this weekend. But you will only get a few bulbs per pot unlike the packs where you would get more. Hope that helps 😊

Last one for tonight, and I'll finish on an Allium. A fairly smallish one in comparison to some other varieties. I've planted these in two separate patches close to the front of the border. 🤓

Yes, usually 60cm as Steve mentions. The database shows them higher for some reason. @kathy

@wallington - first time I've grown these. Do you have to do anything special with them? Quite looking foward to seeing them in flower.

@richard.spicer.7906 I didn't, just planted them. They probably prefer good drainage but think they might be more forgiving compared to the larger bulb varieties. That said, I don't know if all of ours have regrown yet, I'll keep you updated! I got mine free so wasn't expecting much, but they're one of my favourites now.
