05/05/19 - Morning, I know I’ve not posted much recently as busy contending with other things right now but thought I’d show you some of the stuff that’s been and gone in the last couple of months in and around my garden. This is a first for me, as had never heard of Bellevalia till last year. It’s related to muscari I think, and had these very interesting blue, cream flowers which fail to brown. It’s a straight species so should come true from seed, so hoping to collect some later 🤞🏼
I saw these bulbs at my local Xmas market last year but they also had lots of different muscari so I had a very difficult choice and went for muscari latifolium. Hope the stall returns this year so I can try these bellevalias 😊
🤞🏼 for you Urszula 😊, I suspect it might have been Bellevalia pycnantha they had for sale as i think it’s more easily available than other Bellevalia @ublaszko
Aw, thanks Sherri 🙏🏼😘 - I’m quite pleased how it’s all growing, although I’m now getting to the critical point on space in the polytunnel, can barely walk through it right now, need the weather to warm up a teeny bit so I can bring stuff outside again and avoid the frosts @sherrisgarden
Just cataloguing some new bulbs, planted 27th Oct 2018. Not tried this genus before so experimenting to see how difficult they are to grow in UK #bellevallia #bellevallia-trifoliata
It's nice isn't it Susan @novicegardenlover - not seen it for sale here in UK in garden centres, but ordered this online from a rare plant site and keeping it under cover in my polytunnel through winter to be safe.
